  • We took John to the movies for the first time today.  He was nervous at first.  There were tons of children there.  Daycare centers in buses brought kids to see the free movies.  There was more noise than he likes to be around, but still he was brave.  He didn't make noises to leave.  His eyes lit up when he saw the biggest thing of popcorn he'd ever seen.  He sat perched on his daddy's knee stuffing popcorn and Bunny Friend's into his mouth washing them down with Simply Apple juice.  I sat watching him grin thinking, "damn, on-line source lied about the movies they would be showing today."  I had to sit through most of Alvin and the Chipmunks movie.  I didn't lobotimize myself, but believe me I wanted to do it.  I was so happy when he got bored and was ready to get up and run around.

We left the theatre when he started to become wiggly and busy.  He ran through the lounge giggling and squealing.  It's his trademark.  We drove him over to Shelby park (I am not sure why they elected to use an arial picture) before it became insanely hot outside.  He played in the water fountain.  I wish I had known I was going to have to get wet as well or else I would have worn something else. It only took 5 minutes before he became comfortable enough to splash alone in the fountain.  I am so proud of him.  He is starting to interact with other children.  He even initiates play sometimes.  We only stayed at the park for  a little while because I didn't think about sunblock.  Next time we will stay a little bit longer than today.
